Not all light trucks and vans are driven equally. Service professionals have vastly different needs for their vehicles, especially their suspensions. So, Gabriel® LTV™ Severe Duty shocks are designed and built to handle the demands of the typical fleet – light or heavy – while providing unbeatable stability and response.

At its core, each Gabriel® LTV™ Severe Duty shock packs an oversized 1 5/8” (41 mm) piston bore to provide strength and stability that’s capable of settling even the most violent shakes, rattles and rolls. The sintered iron piston and compression head are precision engineered to handle the most extreme conditions, while delivering reliable performance and control.

Gabriel® LTV™ Severe Duty shocks feature a tough-as-nails exterior, thanks to 360° arc welded end mounts that provide superior structural strength. And every LTV shock design is custom-sized to directly replace your stock shocks.

The LTV series also comes with 10-stage all-coil spring valving for increased comfort and control. Like all Gabriel shocks and struts, the LTV series is equipped with a chromed piston rod that provides increased corrosion protection and enhanced sealing properties. It’s the kind of quality and dependability you’ll only find from the company that invented the first automotive shock absorber in
1907 – the Original Gabriel.

Why don't LTV Severe Duty Shocks expand when taken out of the box?

This is by design as Gabriel LTV Severe Duty Shocks provide superior valving technology to help prevent areation. So, the next time you unbox an LTV Severe Duty Shock, and it doesn't expand like gas-charged shocks do, you will know that the shock's behavior after unboxing has nothing to do with the exceptional perfromance your vehicle will receive!

My tires are unevenly worn. Do I need to replace my ride control components?

Possibly. There are many factors that can contribute to uneven tire wear; the most common cause is a wheel alignment. Worn ride control components can also contribute. Cupping of the tires is commonly seen as an indicator of worn ride control.

I have a light film of oil on my shock, does it need to be replaced?

Probably not. Shocks are designed to "mist" slightly & this film helps lubricate the seal as the piston rod moves. A light uniform misting is normal, but streaking patterns aren't and should be investigated. Remember: If it's streaking, it's leaking!

When should I replace my shocks?

Generally, Gabriel recommends replacing your shocks or struts at regular 50,000-mile intervals to ensure a safer and more comfortable ride in most vehicles. Actual mileage intervals may vary based on vehicle specs, use, and environment.
